As part of the Workforce Expansion Project, with the support of many partners including a generous contribution from the Mulago Foundation, GPAS and the Association of Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland (AAGBI) have committed to increasing the number of East African trainees pursuing careers in surgery and anesthesia.
The Departments of Surgery and Anesthesia at Mulago Hospital and Makerere University through collaboration with GPAS and AAGBI are offering a limited number of scholarships for trainees wishing to begin MMed in surgery or anesthesia at Makerere University/Mulago Hospital in the Fall of 2011. Applicants will be selected based on academic achievement and dedication to service in East Africa. Awards will be announced in June 2011.
Eligibility: MMed surgery or anesthesia application acceptance, outstanding recommendations and marks, no other tuition scholarship awards for MMed, completed application form. Scholarships are available only for Uganda trainees in surgery, though all East African country trainees for Anesthesia. Please Note: This scholarship application form must be submitted in addition to a complete standard Makerere application for MMed through the office of the registrar. Do not submit this scholarship form to the registrar’s office.
Awards will be given to cover tuition fees for the full three years of training, and recipients will not be eligible for this scholarship if they have received tuition funding from another source.
